Maternity Staff

Outside of L&D with the best nursing staff in Tanzania! (aka the maternity nurses at St. Benedict's Hospital Ndanda). From left to right: Sabina, Sofia, Reinfrieda, Cecilia, and myself.

Photo taken while I was on call earlier this evening. Its nice to be back in Ndanda after brief break in Morogoro.

Yesterday had two c-sections (first a repeat, term with CPD, second an emergent c-section due to cord prolapse). Today had two gyn cases, a ruptured ectopic followed by exploratory laparotomy, RSO for large pelvic mass.

By the Riverside

Greetings from Morogoro! Arrived yesterday and started intermediate Kiswahili language training today. Feels like deja vu because we are staying at the same "hotel" and following the same language schedule.

There is a small river that runs through Morogoro which I cross to get to town. It seems like this is one of the best videos of Morogoro on "You Tube" that is short and easy to view....

Dar es Salaam street and beach scenes

Greetings from Dar! Just arrived this afternoon after a one hour flight from Mtwara. Checked into the Econo Lodge hotel and then grabbed a bite to eat at Chef's Pride Restaurant across the street. Taking a bus tomorrow to Morogorro for 10 day intermediate Kiswahili Language class. This time it will only be 5 of us (some of the other "vols" either left or decided they don't need intermediate training).

Looking forward to returning to Morogorro and taking a short break from the work at the hospital. I tried to upload this video from You Tube but seems to be having problems
